Chrysalis Montessori School - Jan 12 Newsletter

Dear Parent

Firstly a very Happy New Year to all, and a warm welcome to parents and children who are new to us this term. We hope that you all had a great Christmas break. As always we will do our utmost to settle new children as sensitively as possible.

Many thanks for all the lovely gifts and cards to our staff at Christmas. The staff and children alike thoroughly enjoyed our great Christmas concert and Christmas Party.

Our project this term is “All About Me”. In this project the children will be talking about the Family Unit and extended Family Unit, our five senses, new babies and lots of fun activities such as measuring how tall we are.

This term we will also look at Chinese New Year, Spring & New Life, and Easter. As always, should you have any books or items related to these subjects or our project, these would be gratefully received on a loan basis. Also, in the past, parents with a job of particular interest to the children (eg. fire fighter, policeman, dentist etc.) have been pleased to come in to give a little talk. Please see me to arrange a convenient time if you feel you may be able to help in this way.

Some dates for your diaries are as follows:

Half Term:   Monday 13th February - Friday 17th February 2012 incl.

Easter Holiday:   Monday 2nd April – Friday 13th April 2012 incl.
Return to school: Monday 16th April 2012.

Public holiday:   Monday 7th May 2012 – May Day (School closed)

Half Term:   Monday 4th June - Friday 8th June 2012 incl.

  Summer:   Monday 23rd July 2012 - Friday 31st 2012 incl.
Return to school: Monday 3rd September 2012.

Please permit me to offer a gentle reminder on a couple of points which are very important as follows:

As is clearly stated in our prospectus we are unable to offer any reduction in fees or replacement sessions  due to absences through illness or holidays taken during the nursery term time. Our term
dates do not necessarily tie in with the Dorset school dates and unless we receive four
weeks notice of your intention to withdraw your child prior to the end of our term, full
fees will be charged.

Illness

Please avoid bringing your child to nursery with any contagious illness e.g. Chicken Pox, conjunctivitis, sickness and diarrhoea or if your child is clearly not well. Please ensure that 48 hours elapses prior to any attendance after your child has suffered diarrhoea or sickness to avoid the spread of germs.

Would you please ensure that all your children’s coats, hats, gloves etc. are named and also lunch boxes and drink containers etc.

Contact Numbers:

Please ensure that any change of address or work contact numbers are passed on to a member of staff and that your emergency contact must be available to pick up your child should the situation arise.

Access:

Please keep a tight grip on your children whilst coming to and from the Car Park and keep our green gate and the fenced gate closed at all times when not in use. Please also bear in mind that the climbing frame can be slippery and we ask that you supervise your child at all times on your way to and from the nursery.

Nut Allergies

Please avoid enclosing nut products or sandwich spreads within your child’s lunch box as severe nut allergies are relatively common and even the slightest contact with nut foodstuffs can be dangerous to those children affected.

If you have a request for any additional sessions this term please be sure to put this in writing as soon as possible as both morning and afternoon sessions are filling quickly. This should be of particular interest to those of who you have children with third birthdays this term as you will be entitled to funding next term. Sessions are allocated on a first come first served basis. We like to do our best to meet the needs of our existing parents and therefore strongly advise that any siblings are registered now to ensure a place is reserved for when you need it. Please speak to me about our ‘free’ funded afternoon sessions if your child will become eligible for funding and bear in mind that funded children can uplift their number of funded sessions up to the limit of 15 hours at any time during the term, numbers permitting.

Finally, please remember that I am always available to discuss any matter whatsoever in connection with your child’s well being or development.

We look forward to a happy action packed 2012 full of opportunities for the children to achieve their maximum potential and our team is looking forward to a lively and productive term.

Regards

Jasmin.
